Background

In June of 2013 a partnership was established between Allan Short, Royce Helm and Thinking Schools International (TSI). Both Allan and Royce are teaching practitioners in New Zealand Schools and have each over 25 years experience both as classroom teachers and as experienced School Leaders.   They also have backgrounds in teaching thinking strategies, teaching dispositions and inquiry learning. From their roles in leadership in schools they are both very skilled in Strategic Planning and Managing Change.

Allan Short is a qualified Global Trainer for Thinking Schools International as well as a trainer in Habits of Mind and Thinking Maps. His experience both in the United Kingdom, where he was a Primary School Principal and consulted for for Kestrel Education, combined with 10 years teaching and leading schools in New Zealand, gives Allan a unique perspective.

Royce Helm is a New Zealand trained and qualified teacher, past Headmaster of St George’s School Wanganui and a past member of the Ministry of Education’s implementation team for Ultra-fast fibre. Royce is currently Principal of a school that currently runs a large professional development organisation privately contracting to schools and a large ICT infra-structure.

Between them, they can provide for your school a broad set of skills and experience, which, coupled with the Thinking Schools International approach, will provide a blueprint for you to “transform your school from the inside out.”
