TSI Approach

Growing Thinking Schools from the Inside Out

Thinking Schools International is an expanding group of educators from around the world focused on developing, implementing, documenting, and openly sharing the practices of explicitly improving all students’, teachers’, and administrators’ thinking abilities.  Our role is to support you in developing your own vision and action plan for a “Thinking School” within your unique learning community.  We support you over the years, as needed,  in developing your expertise and sharing your insights with our wide network of schools on a similar path around the world.  The video below describes the three guiding principles for our Thinking School approach:

Three Guiding Principles for Thinking Schools

Here are the 3 basic steps to the TSI Approach: (click on each step for details)

STEP 1: Introductory Professional Development Workshop

STEP 2: Creating an Action Plan

STEP 3: Focused Implementation – three pathways

High Quality Training

All Thinking Schools International Directors are certified by Thinking Maps, Inc. and the Habits of Mind Institute in conducting training and follow-up in each of these approaches.  Questioning for Enquiry has been developed over the past few years by our team.  We are also able to arrange advanced Training of Trainers in each of these programs. Importantly, our unique design and high quality trainers know how to integrate these pathways together as your school decides to move forward, one approach at a time.  For more information see TSI Training and Certification

We also gradually integrate the 6 Starting Points for Thinking (introduced in the initial workshop) into the implementation so that each these approaches is not about implementing a single approach…. but instead about Growing your Thinking School over time.
